Cheaper Insurance – Changes to Fire Services Levy
From1 July 2013, insurance policies providing protection against the risk of fire will no longer have Fire Services Levy (FSL) loaded on the premium.
The current insurance fire services levy will be abolished and replaced with councils collecting the levy through rates notices. Theoretically you should be paying a reduced levy as there is an increased pool of property owners paying the levy via rates.
Asa result, your insurance premiums will reduce accordingly. Insurers are already reducing the level of FSL progressively as we approach the end of the current financial year.
